Road Trips, Tattoos and Best Friends!
Memorial day weekend was fantastic, just the kind of weekend that you want to have every week! Danielle and I had a fabulous time in Burlington. The Ray Lamontagne show was nice, thankfully the monsoon came and went before we got to the outdoor venue for the show! We had a lovely time laughing our butts off and reminiscing about the old days. I was bound and determined to make it to the pool and hot tub at the hotel before we left and I forced myself up out of bed to do so at 8:30! Yay me! We were ready to rock and roll by 10:45, a feat that I rarely achieve unless duly motivated! We went to Church St. to check out some shops and fate willing, get the tattoos we had been waiting to get together for years. We got to Vermont Custom Tattoo and Danielle let the guys know what she wanted and was ready to roll. Since we didn't make appointments I didn't have my hopes set too high on getting mine. As luck would have it, an appointment didn't show up so I was in! 3 hours later, I had the most beautiful Matryoshka Doll tattooed on my leg. I am so happy to have this permanent reminder of my Gram. She was a strong influence for me and a lot of what I am today is because of her. Danielle now has a pair of beautiful Dragonflies on her ankle, and the peace sign she got when she was 14 is now covered up. So, we got our homemade tattoos at 14 and 16, and were able to share in the experience of covering hers and my getting a new one at the same time. What a great bond for two friends to have! I am very fortunate to have such a great friend like Danielle, who is there to listen to my rants and raves, that is always willing to help out when needed and is a great fill-in substitute Mom for Madeline when I need someone. It was a pleasure to take my best friend to get her first real tattoo, and even better to celebrate her birthday at home with our families and close friends. It's the little things in life that make all the difference, and good friends and good bargains make this world a better place! I have much more to say, but there is plenty of blog time left for that!
